Where It All Began…

In the 1950’s, Grandpa John was an apprentice in Germany studying the art of baking until he came to America at 18 years old with a dollar and a dream. 

He worked in bakeries mastering his art before opening Hummel Hummel Bake Shop in 1968 with a little help from his brother, wife, and mother.

His son Derek, who started coming to the bakery as a young child, napping on flour bags and then scraping the floor, eventually learned and perfected the trade himself.

Fast forward to 1998 when Derek and his wife Susan took over the shop, continuing the family tradition along with their young daughter Samantha.

At Hummel Hummel, we strive to bring high-quality products at great value to our customers. 

While known worldwide for our famous ‘Pizza Crumbs’, we also make delicious cookies, cakes, pies, pastries, donuts, Danish, bread, and rolls. We also offer an array of seasonal favorites including (but not limited to) Christmas Stollen and Pfeffernüsse.
